ABOUT KARLEO KENNELS

   We are a relatively small Dog kennel producing only a few puppies each year. Our Great Pyrenees dog breed are raised and bred with the utmost of care, love and devotion.
   We breed for the best in health, temperament and type, bringing together what we feel are the finest championship lines in North America.
   All of our dogs are given individual love and attention in our home, well socialized and receive the best in veterinary care. All of our breeding stock is OFA certified ( x-rayed clear for hip dysplasia), eyes and thyroid tested.
   We are proud to say that all of our dogs are owner handled.

ABOUT THE BREED

   The Great Pyrenees is a longhaired dog, which conveys the distinct impression of elegance and unsurpassed beauty combined with great overall size and majesty. He has a principally white coat that may contain markings of badger, gray, or varying shades of tan. He possesses a keen intelligence and a kindly, while regal, expression. His soundness and coordination show unmistakably the purpose for which he was originally bred, the strenuous working of guarding the flocks in all kinds of weather on the steep mountain slopes of the Pyrenees. Retaining the guarding instinct, the Pyr will protect all that belongs to it-property, animals and people, especially children. In nature, the Pyr is confident, gentle and affectionate. Being very strong willed independent dogs they require a firm but gentle and understanding hand.
   Caring for a Great Pyrenees is a labor of love - a labor which is most appreciated and returned 100-fold. They are clean and their double coat is easy to keep with weekly brushings. A fenced yard is a must, and a daily walk will exercise the Pyr. Surprisingly for such a large dog, the Pyr has a small appetite.

HEALTH AND GUARANTEES

   When you receive your Karleo Great Pyrenees, it will come complete with first needles, permanent identification and will be registered with the Canadian Kennel Club. All pet puppies are sold on NON-BREEDING AGREEMENTS and PRIVATE CONTRACT ONLY. This is our breed and we care about its future and the dogs we place. Show and/or breeding puppies are occasionally available to discriminating fanciers who have the same concerns we have.
   Along with your puppy, you will receive our written guarantee:
   All puppies are guaranteed to be free of any debilitating genetic or hereditary defects for a period of two years. If your puppy should demonstrate either, we will, upon verification, replace your puppy as soon as one becomes available.

PRICING

   Are all Great Pyrenees priced the same? NO. Price will depend upon the age and the purpose (pet, show, or breeding). All major breeders should ask approximately the same prices, should provide approximately the same guarantees, and should stand behind their stock. Most reputable breeders will require a deposit toward your puppy. Thereby not producing unwanted puppies.
   Are there places I should not buy from? YES. Ask (insist) to see the parents or other close relatives of the puppies. Are they Healthy? Clean? On the premises? Do the breeders offer written guarantees? Can the breeders provide references?
